Community

Courteenhall has a long and proud history of interacting closely with its local community. As part of this commitment we support local educational programmes, charities and facilities.

Supporting the Country Trust

The Estate hosts school visits through the Country Trust, where school children have the opportunity to visit the farm for the day and learn about how farmers work through seasons, planting and growing crops and looking after animals that produce the food they eat.

Many of the school children that visit us as part of these trips are from challenged, urban areas and have never had the opportunity to visit a working farm before.  We are delighted to be able to provide them this experience and look forward to hosting many more.

Royal Forestry Teaching Trees Programme

We are a longstanding host site for the Royal Forestry Society’s Teaching Trees programme and have hosted local primary school classes returning year on year to utilise our woodland to support them in learning about the natural world.

Visit RFS

Teaching Trees was a valuable educational experience aligned directly with the National Curriculum. Through practical experiences using the beautiful environment at Courteenhall, the sessions were supported by a range of resources. A fantastic school trip and I would definitely encourage others to go.

Leaf Open Farm Sunday

Each year, we take part in the annual LEAF Open Farm Sundays. These days provide us an opportunity to open our farm to visitors, enabling them to experience our farm up close and gain valuable insight into the arable industry through talks and tours by our farmers.

Thankyou for teaching us about the farm and telling us about food. I really liked grinding the seeds and one thing I learned was combine harvesters connect to the satellite. The most exciting part was swimming in seeds.

Biannual Community Fete

Working closely with Courteenhall Church of St Peter and St Paul, we host a biannual fete in our parkland. The day is open to all of our local communities and includes home grown produce, cream teas and lots of fun activities for children too.

Our Local Area

Our Estate land comprises many public footpaths and we welcome members of the public who would like to use them and enjoy the nature and wildlife within our Estate.

We do ask the public to please be careful, keep dogs on a lead and to stick to designated public footpaths in order to protect wildlife, including ground nesting birds who may otherwise be scared away from their nests.
